Stephen R. Wise, Esq.
Steve Wise’s practice is concentrated in commercial real estate, business transactions, land use law, and business enterprises. Mr. Wise has provided legal representation to dozens of commercial lending institutions at the local, regional, and national level, with extensive experience in negotiating and closing commercial real estate transactions.
Mr. Wise also provides legal counsel to a substantial number of real estate developers in matters of acquisitions, sales, licensing, franchise compliance, financing and landlord/tenant issues. He represents and assists banks and lending institutions with foreclosures, forbearances, and loan work out matters, and has defended in lender liability lawsuits in both State and Federal Courts.
Mr. Wise has been general counsel to the Knoxville/Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission since 1987.
A member of the Knoxville Bar Association, the Tennessee State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, Mr. Wise earned his JD Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1978, and a LLB International Law from Cambridge University in 1981.
In addition to professional endeavors, Mr. Wise has served in leadership positions with a number of non-profit and community based organizations, including the Central Business Improvement District (CBID) for Knoxville, the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley and the Knox County Library Foundation.
